Overview: Every research proposal contains a literature review. The literature review demonstrates that you are familiar with the current research, and places you as an expert in your field. Moreover, the literature review substantiates the need for further research by examining the research that has been conducted and identifying gaps in the current literature.

Describe the research designs employed in each study.
● Identify the research question in each study.
● What methods were used to collect and analyze data?
○ Please indicate if primary or secondary (or both) data sources were used in the study.
● What were the main findings in each of the studies?
● What are the strengths and weaknesses of the studies?
○ In this section you will want to evaluate the research design and the data collection

Guidelines for Submission: Your paper must be submitted as a 4-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and all sources cited in APA format.

Public Health 300 word discussion w 3 references

DUE THURSDAY 7/13 AT 7:00 P.M E.S.T

300 WORD DISCUSSION WITH 3 REFERENCES

Topic: What Can America Learn From Japan?

The Japanese experience demonstrates the importance of cultural issues, such as caring and sharing, that profoundly influence health outcomes. Without considering culture, one cannot begin to explain why Japan is the world’s healthiest nation on most mortality indicators despite having a high proportion of men smoking and the highest rates of low-birth weight babies among rich nations.

Furthermore, health outcomes in Japan are significantly better than those in the U.S., even though the U.S. spends much more on health care. What can the U.S. learn from this country?

Post a brief analysis of how reconstruction after World War II contributed to Japan’s contemporary health status. Then, summarize one significant political feature and one legal feature of Japan’s contemporary health care system that contributes to Japan’s population health status. Offer two reasons (historical, political, legal, and/or cultural) for the disparity between the Japanese and American populations in health achievement. Finally, suggest two lessons other countries can learn from the Japanese experience to improve their own health status.

Barriers   to Organizational Development

In Chapter Nine of your textbook, the author discusses the concept of organizational development. Although organizational development can be an effective way for companies to remain competitive, only about two-thirds of change efforts are actually successful. Why do you believe organizational development is so difficult?

Think of a barrier to organizational development that you have personally experienced as an employee or that stands out to you as being common. Explain why you believe this barrier is challenging for organizations as well as what you would do to overcome it, if you were faced with change in your organization.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.

My Friend the Witch Doctor

Your Friend the Witch Doctor?

You are working in a remote area of the world to identify the epidemiologic factors contributing to a host of diseases in the area in order to introduce public health measures to improve the overall well-being of the villagers.

The Shaman, because of his status within the community, is vital to your success. He alone is responsible for your lack of progress. Unfortunately, the Shaman is extremely suspicious of your presence and speaks no English. No one in the village is permitted to speak without the permission of the Shaman for fear of bad juju.

Your job is to befriend the Shaman to gain his trust to provide access to the information you desire. He is particularly distrustful of Western religions which patronize his animistic roots.

In not less than 400 words and references in AMA style explain:

How do you go about building a working relationship with the Shaman without undermining his worldview while maintaining your own Christian ideals?

Cultural Influences of Social Policy

Cultures, regardless of where they are or how long ago they existed, share a few common characteristics. Among these characteristics is a structure to care for their children and to socialize them in the culture. Children are taught, both directly and indirectly, the values of the culture, their role in the culture, and the expectations the culture has for them. Children absorb the rules, dynamics, and values, which they will later pass these on to subsequent generations.

As a social worker, you will deal with families from different cultural backgrounds. Understanding the cultural background of the families you work with will help you to effectively intervene and advocate for policies that support their needs. How prepared are you to identify and advocate for social policies that are just and support families from all cultures?

For this Discussion, review this week’s resources, including the Hernandez Family video case. Consider how cultural considerations might affect child welfare policy. Then, think about what your responsibilities, as a social worker, might be in supporting the Hernandez family in addressing their child welfare needs through the accessibility of services.

Post by Day 3 an explanation of how cultural considerations might affect child welfare policy. Then, explain what your responsibilities, as a social worker, might be in supporting the Hernandez family in addressing their child welfare needs through the accessibility of services.
